Games of the Week – 2014 Summer Split Week 1

Below are my picks for the top games in Europe and North America for Week 1 of the 2014 Summer Split.

To make this all contextually easier to understand, LoL has one objective: destroy the other team’s Nexus (the large building in their base). To do so, you kill minions, enemy champions, towers, and dragons to get gold and advantages for your team.

Supa Hot Crew vs SK Gaming

This game shows how League of Legends really never is over until it’s over.

Cloud 9 vs Complexity

Cloud 9 vs Complexity showed Cloud 9’s skill at clinging to a game when behind, especially during the mid-game and teamfights. It also showed how impossible it is to count a game over until a nexus falls.

CounterLogic Gaming vs LMQ

CLG is known for rotations, LMQ for laning. Instead, they both showed that they are fantastic teams in all ways.

Millenium vs Supa Hot Crew

The last place teams in Europe last year both came out strong, with a combined 5-3 during Super Week. Their game vs each other was a high-kill game with tons of close teamfights.

Fnatic vs SK Gaming

A rematch between the 1st and 2nd place teams from last season promises to be close and intense, while any match with Fnatic in it is bound to be fast-paced and full of surprises.

CLG vs Cloud 9

I honestly just think these two teams were the best two teams from last split, so their games are bound to be interesting.

Complexity vs Dignitas

Dignitas is the new NA super team, with the solo laners from Team Coast with the strong bot lane of Imaqtpie and Kiwikid and the underrated jungler Crumbzz. They made their debut vs new team Complexity, and Shiphtur was completely dominant mid, racking up kill after kill on his way to a pentakill.

Copenhagen Wolves vs Millenium

Yet another game between two lower-ranked teams. Copenhagen Wolves took 6th place last season, and were expected to underperform, with a new jungler and a new ADC. However, this game was extremely back and forth, and showcases what is exciting about League of Legends.
